Situated at the heart of Tribeca in New York, the 60 Collister Street building houses one iconic custom kitchen. A unique mix of textures and finishes gives it a lot of personalities. The color palette can be described as luxurious but with a more modern flair.
The use of high gloss blue with stained Walnut cabinets is a study in both contrast and balance. Stradling the center island are two walls of striking high gloss blue pantry doors. They run the full height of the walls up to the ceiling where it continues.
The same finish runs the length of the ceiling above, reflecting the kitchen below as if to extend your vision and create the illusion of a bigger space. It’s a bold choice, but one that pays off well. Adjacent to this are the upper and lower cabinets, finished with Walnut.
The cabinet and drawer doors are full slabs to give emphasis to the natural pattern of the wood grains. The tile backsplash and countertop, both Slate, give a sense of balance. A neutral ground that blends its bold surroundings. All accents are finished in brushed stainless.
The kitchen faucet, sink, and even the cabinet handle all in the same material. Subtle details like this help tie the design together. On one side of the Kitchen are the refrigerator and oven, integrated with fully customized stainless-steel cabinets to match.
It creates a seamless transition between the appliances and cabinets. With the absence of open shelving, the space is free from distractions. The kitchen is fitted with adjustable shelves and drawers based on the clients’ needs. All the essential items are hidden behind cabinet doors.
The goal of this is to maintain the focus on the design and feel of the overall space. Being in one of the most diverse cities in the world, there’s always something new and different. This kitchen is a reflection of that. Everywhere you look, your eyes are treated to a delight of bold and exciting elements.
