High Gloss Blue & Walnut Kitchen

Kitchens are a central part in any home. It’s where we spend time with family and has become a place to entertain guests. We want our spaces to be a reflection of ourselves; this is especially true for the kitchen.

In this high gloss blue walnut kitchen, we created a bold and striking space with personality through the use of various textures and finishes. As one enters the kitchen, the first thing that will likely catch your eye is the stunning glossy blue cabinet doors along two sides. This same finish then extends onto the ceiling above, as if to envelop the space in blue. The glossy material reflects the kitchen and gives an illusion of a larger space, similar to a mirror. Adjacent to the pantry doors are the oven and refrigerator. These are integrated within stainless steel cabinetry, creating a seamless connection between appliance and cabinet. As a contrast to the polished and reflective surfaces, the rest of the kitchen sports various natural finishes. Wide plank wooden floor boards ground the whole space. The counter, island, and upper cabinets are made with a stained walnut finish. The reddish tint of the wood finishes balances out the blue of the cabinets, and adds warmth to the space. Finally the slate countertops and backsplash bring in a neutral shade to tie it all together.

Another factor to note is that there is no open shelving in this kitchen. All items are hidden behind cabinet doors, allowing for a clean and clutter-free look. This allows the various materials and textures to become the focus of this kitchen, free from any distractions. Achieving this balance and harmony among multiple finishes is something that can only be achieved through a combination of design expertise, careful attention to detail, and a high level of craftsmanship.
