Getting Started: Working With Wood & Co.

About Wood & Co.

What does Wood & Co. specialize in?

We specialize in highly customized millwork and cabinetry—kitchens, vanities, built-ins, paneling, libraries, interior and exterior wood doors, architectural woodwork, and specialty furniture pieces for high-end residential projects. Everything is fully made-to-order, built locally on Long Island, and tailored to the exact design intent of the project.

What types of projects do you typically work on?

We focus on full-home millwork packages, large kitchen and built-in scopes, or any project that requires detailed customization, high-quality craftsmanship, and a disciplined process.  We work very closely with builders, architects, and the design team throughout the process to ensure a seamless experience.

How is Wood & Co. different from other millwork companies?

Our greatest differentiators are our drafting capabilities, responsive administrative support, and our ability to execute complex custom work on disciplined timelines. Our shop drawings are produced quickly and accurately, ensuring projects maintain momentum. We’re organized, communicate clearly, and take on a limited number of clients, to ensure the experience stays smooth and enjoyable. Quality and reliability come before everything else.

How long has Wood & Co. been in business?

We’ve been in business for over a decade, since 2013, and we’ve steadily grown into one of Long Island’s most capable custom millwork firms with work published in Architectural Digest and other design publications.

What geographic areas do you serve?

We primarily serve Long Island, New York City, and the Hamptons, and selectively take on projects outside these regions when there’s a strong fit. We’ve supported projects well beyond our local market, including shipping completed millwork and kitchens to California.

Clients & Collaborators

Who are your typical clients and collaborators?

We work closely with architects, interior designers, and builders—often as both collaborators and clients—on residential and commercial projects that require a high level of coordination and craft. We also partner with general contractors, construction managers, owner’s representatives, and property managers who value clear communication and reliable execution.

Many of these relationships span multiple projects, allowing us to function as an integrated millwork partner from design development through fabrication and installation. In addition, we work directly with homeowners on one-off pieces or smaller-scope projects that don’t require a full project management team.

How do you work with general contractors?

We communicate proactively, provide all submittals and schedules in writing, and coordinate closely on installation sequencing, site readiness, and project milestones. Organized teams achieve the best outcomes, and we work as a collaborative partner throughout the project.

Do you work directly with homeowners?

Yes—provided the homeowner is engaged, decisive, and committed to the process. Most of our direct clients own homes valued between $5M and $50M and expect a high-service, detail-oriented experience.

Project Fit & Qualification

What is the minimum project size you take on, and do you take on small or single-item jobs?

While we don’t have a strict minimum, most of our work is part of larger custom scopes, such as whole-home millwork fit-outs and total kitchen renovations. We do, however, evaluate smaller or single-item projects individually based on schedule, complexity, and alignment with our production calendar. A “small” project for us might include a $10,000–$30,000 dining table or a $20,000–$80,000 single-elevation built-in. Regardless of scale, every project receives the same level of care, craftsmanship, and attention.

What budgets are appropriate for custom cabinetry or a full millwork package?

Every Wood & Co. piece is built to uncompromising, furniture-grade standards. Our work is handcrafted with exceptional precision, premium materials, and the level of detailing expected in the world’s finest homes. Because each project is entirely bespoke, investment levels vary based on scale, scope, finish, and complexity. The ranges below provide a clear sense of what to expect when engaging our team:

  • A fully custom Wood & Co. kitchen typically ranges from $125,000–$250,000+, with smaller kitchens beginning around $80,000. Larger footprints, specialty finishes, and integrated architectural details naturally elevate overall investment.

  • Comprehensive millwork programs—inclusive of kitchens, closets, vanities, libraries, wall paneling, doors, and architectural cabinetry—generally range from $500,000 to $5,000,000+, depending on the size and complexity of the residence. These budgets reflect cabinetry and millwork only and do not include countertops, appliances, hardware, or fixtures.

  • Our closets are built to the same standards as fine furniture, not modular systems. Tailored reach-in or single-wall closets typically range from $10,000–$50,000. Large walk-in and master dressing rooms often approach kitchen-level budgets due to their scale, customization, and elevated detailing.

  • A small vanity begins around $5,000, with most custom vanities ranging between $10,000 and $30,000, exclusive of stone countertops, backsplashes, sinks, or fittings.

Each project is approached with the same level of craftsmanship, care, and attention to detail, regardless of scope. These ranges are intended to help you determine whether Wood & Co. is the right partner for your home or project.

Do you provide design-assistance or pre-construction support?

Yes. We frequently assist design teams by refining details, reviewing design intent, advising on lead times, and developing technical solutions before construction begins. Our standalone millwork consultancy service allows clients and designers to engage us early and obtain shop drawings, samples, and mock-ups long before the start of construction.

What information do I need to provide to receive an accurate proposal?

Architectural drawings, elevations, appliance specifications, finish preferences, and any design intent materials. If details require additional clarity, we may recommend utilizing our millwork consultancy services to develop the documentation needed for precise estimating.

Do you offer site visits or feasibility consultations?

Yes. Once budget and scope alignment is confirmed, we conduct site visits to verify conditions and plan next steps.

How do you handle complex or highly customized designs?

Complex, fully bespoke millwork is our specialty. We break the design into refined, buildable details through drafting, provide clear options, engineer each piece thoroughly, and produce samples or mock-ups when necessary. Every step is communicated clearly.
